We cannot be silent in the face of a vocal, racist minority. Now is the time to loudly declare your support for migrant communities. Everyone is welcome here.
Last weekend we saw racist rallies organised by Neo-Nazis across the country. White supremacists used violence to create fear, including attacking Aboriginal people at Camp Sovereignty in Naarm. White people were not the first people on this land. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land, and everyone else is an immigrant.
We’re all feeling the impacts of rising income inequality. Our housing and cost of living is rising and many people are looking for a way out. Last weekend we saw thousands of people directing their blame at migrant communities and people of colour while the real villains keep lining their pockets.
Billionaires have always used racism (and worked with white supremacists) to divide the working class. They blame migrants to distract from the fact that they are making record profits while we struggle with rising cost of living and unaffordable housing.
You can no longer stay silent. Call out racism in this country and name the real villains in this story. Make your own statement and say it publicly. Encourage your friends to do the same. Everyone is welcome here.
