About Tomorrow
Movement.

Everything about how we have grown and what we have achieved.

Who We Are.

We are an unstoppable movement of young people fighting for a society with good jobs, great public services and a safe climate for all.

We are organising young people all over the country to fight for a tomorrow that works for everyone, not just big business.

Why does Labor Love Big Business?

At Tomorrow Movement we talk a lot about big business in politics. Our mission statement is: We are an unstoppable movement of young people fighting for a society with good jobs, great public services and a

We are a proud, inclusive & multi-racial movement

We want to make it super clear up front that we are a proud, inclusive and multiracial movement.

We know dominant systems like colonisation, white supremacy, capitalism and patriarchy mean that power imbalances can and do show up in spaces in our movement, which will impact who feels comfortable speaking up and who is heard.

We want to extend a strong welcome to people of colour, people of all genders, people living with a disability or mental illness, people from poorer backgrounds, and people whose first language isn’t English.

And we acknowledge that ultimately, we won’t be able to win anything without a movement that’s as diverse as the people of this country are.

Our Movement DNA.

In 2019, Tomorrow Movement went through a frontloading process with 13 young people from across Australia.

Frontloading is a term that the Momentum Model uses to describe visioning our future while anticipating problems that will come up, so people can make aligned decisions without command and control. It is a strategic planning process that creates movement DNA.

The Momentum Model outlines that components of a movement DNA include:

  • Story: How can we create a public-facing identity and narrative that will inspire people to join our movement and advance a new common sense around our issues?
  • Strategy: How can we build a multi-phase strategy that withdraws consent from and cooperation with the status quo to effect change in both public opinion and policy?
  • Culture: How do we design a system of values, principles, and practices that can be disseminated throughout a movement to embody the kind of interdependence and reciprocity we want to see in the world?
  • Structure: How do we create volunteer structures that can scale by absorbing thousands of new members each year and distributing leadership through clear roles, teams, and lines of support?

Our Story.

The Momentum Model outlines the movement DNA component of Story is the purpose of our movement: why Tomorrow Movement is calling for young people to come together and what future we are trying to create.

Our future is under threat.

We are facing an uncertain future: our planet, our democracy and our economy are in crisis. For generations, summer used to be a time of fun and relaxation, but now climate change brings the danger and anxiety of record-breaking heat waves and catastrophic bushfires. We can no longer count on basic necessities like a secure job, stable housing or even medical care. Our government has become a tool of big business, enriching themselves and blocking action that would solve this crisis and improve our lives.

We can make our lives better.

Together we have the skills, resources and time to solve the climate crisis. We could build a society with good jobs, stable housing and more time for all of us to enjoy life with our family and friends. By taking our democracy back from big business we can get to work for each other instead of creating more wealth for the 1%. We can build a world with dignity and justice for all, where we live meaningful and fulfilling lives in harmony with our planet and each other.

But a greedy few are driving us towards disaster.

Our world is being driven to destruction by a handful of billionaires. They are poisoning our air, water and land for their own profits. They get away with it by capturing our democracy and spreading lies in the media. They believe that their immense wealth will shield them from the crisis they are fuelling while the rest of us are denied our basic necessities. They have built a world that works for them, not for us.

We won’t let them divide us.

To keep their power, big business pit us against each other based on the colour of our skin, where we went to school and who we love. They tell us we have to spend our lives competing for underpaid jobs, while they get richer every day. They claim some children must grow up breathing polluted air so that others can have air-conditioning. They divide us so that they can continue to exploit us and our planet without consequence. We won’t be divided anymore.

United, we will win.

We are ordinary young people, prepared to do what it takes to win back our democracy. We are bringing people together in all parts of the country to stand up for our future. Everyone has a role to play in this movement and we are ready to get to work. Public opinion is already behind us and the winds of history are at our back. Together we are fighting because our future depends on it, and we will win.

Our Strategy.

The Momentum Model outlines the movement DNA component of Strategy as explaining the objective of the movement to bring you in on the plan, and provides a blueprint of where Tomorrow Movement is going and how we are doing it.

Launching in 2020, we have a 5 year plan:

Stage 1, 2020: We launched the movement and set the national agenda for a just economy and climate jobs guarantee.

Stag 2, 2021: We grew our movement power to force political actors to pick a side: Climate & Jobs (everyday people) or Big Business.

Stage 3, 2023: Turn movement power into political power at 2024 election.

Stage 4, 2024: Escalate and win.

In 2025, after the federal election, Tomorrow Movement is launching refrontloading.

We want to build the next iteration of Tomorrow Movement to meet the moment of our current political and economic crisis.

We want to use our lessons from the past 5 years of trying to build a Momentum driven movement, and re-calibrate for this political moment to build movement and political power to win the solutions we need.

Our Culture. Our Movement Principles.

The Momentum Model outlines the movement DNA component of Culture as the collective understanding and alignment, which protects the strategy. There’s a saying that ‘culture eats strategy for breakfast.’ If we don’t intentionally set a culture, our strategy won’t matter.

These are the guidelines of our movement which we all commit to uphold. Any action which does not follow these principles is not a Tomorrow Movement action.

Our Achievements.

Trained Young People for Climate Justice.

We brought 100+ young people together in Canberra in 2022 to raise ambitions for climate justice on the first sitting day of parliament. We put Climate Jobs for All on the political agenda.

Helped Win Crucial Seats.

We contributed to securing key seats in the May 2022 Federal Election by challenging our political leaders regarding their ties to fossil fuel billionaires.

Upskilled Young People.

We’ve provided comprehensive training to 1000+ young individuals in the areas of community organising, strategic planning, and climate justice advocacy.

Established National Groups.

We’ve successfully set up 10+ national groups that are actively engaging in community-based initiatives to advance a Climate Jobs Guarantee.

Generated public support

Engaged in tens of thousands of meaningful conversations with everyday people from diverse backgrounds about a Climate Jobs Guarantee.

Won Income Support During COVID Lockdowns.

We collaborated with allies to secure increased income assistance during COVID lockdowns, including extending the Coronavirus Supplement.
