Youth protest with Treasurer demands

Young people from Tomorrow Movement protested at Camberwell Junction intersection outside Josh Frydenberg’s office. They are demanding the government commit to real solutions to tackle the climate and jobs crises in the upcoming Federal Budget.

“This upcoming budget, Treasurer Frydenberg must announce a real plan to create thousands of jobs in the industries needed to decarbonise our society and mitigate climate change, starting immediately,” said Desiree Cai, Tomorrow Movement campaigns lead.

“There is no more time for climate delay, and it’s our future at stake. We are protesting to send Josh Frydenberg, Scott Morrison and the Liberal government an urgent message- they must act now and invest in the big climate solutions that are needed to match the scale of this crisis,” said Desiree.

“From fires to floods, we are watching climate impacts happen right now, and we can’t wait any longer for a plan to secure our future. For the past 9 years, the Liberal government has failed to take sufficient action on climate change,” said Lily Andrews-Quinn who is voting for the first time in this upcoming election.“When me and my peers vote for the first time this Federal Election, we will be looking for a government who has a real plan for the climate and jobs crisis. We are protesting because it’s time for Morrison and Frydenberg to step up or step aside this election,” said Lily.
