Since as long as I can remember, our society has felt divided. For decades, those in power have told us that we can either have secure jobs and livelihoods, or a safe climate, but never both at the same time. It felt like the only choice was to compete for underpaid and casual jobs, and to continue exploiting our planet. This is no accident, big business had captured our democracy and pitted us against each other.

But yesterday, we proved that folks from all walks of life can come together to create a united vision for a more just future. Alongside the union movement, social service sector, multicultural community representatives, climate experts and young people, we brought a new transformative plan to the government. One with ambitious climate solutions that protects our future, and ensures that the upcoming climate transition benefits everyday people and our communities, no matter who we are or where we live.

We are proposing a bold, transformative vision demanding billions of dollars to transition our economy and take care of people while doing it. In order to do this, we need to electricity, retrofit and repurpose our homes, transport and communities by securing safe and well-paid jobs. We need the government to lead on renewable industry creation and climate preparedness. As Tomorrow Movement, we will be fighting to make sure this package works for young people and builds out public services to create a tomorrow that works for everyone, not just big business.

Want to hear more about the Renew Australia for All campaign? Come along to our all in call on April 8th at 6pm. We’ll share reflections on the launch in Canberra, our plans for the next 6 months and how you can get involved!

This year, we’ll be working hard to raise the watermark for the Labor government as high as possible. This will look like town halls in communities across the country, telling powerful stories and building support across political lines. To win change like this, we will need thousands of us across the country talking to our communities and telling a powerful narrative about the future we deserve. Will you be a leader in your community and join the fight to renew Australia? RSVP to the all in call now to find out how.

In solidarity, Jas on behalf of the Tomorrow Movement team.
