With summer looming ahead of us, I can’t help but think about the heat that’s coming. We’re 6 days into December and it’s already so hot! Given that we’ve just had the warmest winter in Australia on record, it’s no wonder things are already heating up this much.

This summer, the climate crisis and cost of living crisis are hitting young people hard. Through our Summer of Heat Survey, a young person from Launceston TAS shared that the shortening winter has made their climate anxiety significantly worse. Another young person who grew up in Eurobodalla NSW shared that they’ve considered not returning home for the summer because of the high risk. Young people are looking for leadership to keep us safe this summer.

The Labor government might not have a plan for this summer, but we do, and we’ve already started putting it into action. Over the past few weeks, local teams across the country took action outside their local MP offices, engaged with their community and office staffers, and demanded more than just heatwaves for the holidays. See more photos of those actions here.

To keep up the pressure this summer, for one day only, donations are matched up to $10k. This money will go towards resources like banner material, megaphones and snacks for the local teams and making sure that they have the resources and support they need to pull off a powerful action!

If you or someone you know has been thinking about donating to Tomorrow Movement, today’s the day – click here to donate!

I’m so proud of the work that we’ve already done to put the pressure on the Labor government to deliver us an adequate plan for a safe summer. I’m even more excited to build a stronger movement and keep taking action over summer!

With hope and gratitude,

Imo, from the Tomorrow Movement Team
