What is re-frontloading?
From August 2025 to early 2026 Tomorrow Movement is re-frontloading.
The context:
In 2020, Tomorrow Movement launched our intersectional youth movement fighting for a society with good jobs, great public services and a safe climate for all. We wanted to organise our communities to win a politics that works for everyone, not just big business.
We’ve tried, with varying success, to reignite imagination in our politics, inspire young people to take action, and put forward bold solutions that will solve the biggest crises of our times – widening inequality, climate disruption, housing instability.
5 years on, the political and movement context we’re operating in has changed a lot…
We’ve had a global pandemic, watched the rise and fall of energy in the climate movement, the rise of other movements like the movement for Black Lives, and Palestine solidarity movements, and we’re currently seeing impacts of a growing global far right. And the systems that have gotten us into this mess- colonisation and capitalism are continuing to create crisis after crisis.
The goal:
In this context, we want to build the next iteration of Tomorrow Movement to meet the moment of our current political and economic crisis. We want to use our lessons from the past 5 years of trying to build a Momentum driven movement, and re-calibrate for this political moment to build movement and political power to win the solutions we need.
What are we trying to do through re-frontloading?
- Create a multiracial, intersectional, ambitious, justice-centred movement of young people that faces up to the poly-crises we’re facing today and is reflective of our current organising context and challenges.
- Build a vehicle for relational community organising and movement building
- Answer foundational questions like: Who are we organising? How do we organise? What is our long term vision? What power are we trying to build?
What are we not trying to do through re-frontloading?
- Create something that fills an entirely different purpose in the broader movement ecosystem, or completely changes aspects of our current DNA that are already working well.
- Set a perfect or completely rigid plan for the future of our movement.

The work:
We are going to re-strategise to create a multi-racial movement that is aware of the impacts of class and access and most of all is grounded in justice. Our work will target the public bringing in a mass movement of people who are not just the ‘usual suspects’ in activism.
We have assembled who are committed to figuring out the next version of Tomorrow Movement and building it together.
A core concept of setting movements up for success, that we borrowed from the Momentum organising framework, is frontloading. This means doing the work to figure out as much of the strategy, story and organising model, values and culture early on so that you can then give these critical pieces away to a mass movement of young people who then have the core ingredients they need to make the revolution.
We have already frontloaded the first version of Tomorrow Movement (see our existing movement DNA here), but we are looking to re-frontload now: re-interrogate the strategy and story of the movement to create something that matches this new political moment.
Want to help inform the re-frontloading process?
We’ve recruited a core team team of committed young people who will work together to build the next iteration of Tomorrow Movement. We don’t have all the answers though – we need to listen to our communities and feed what we learn into the next version of our Movement.
