The real test of whether this bill is a good start or not is what happens next. We can’t let Labor wipe their hands and declare the job done with this bill.
While it falls short of what is needed to protect Australia from extreme weather and worsening climate catastrophes, it is clearly an improvement on Scott Morrison and the Coalition’s dangerous commitment to climate inaction.
